On October 9th, 2023, the Wisconsin Supreme Court voted 4 to 3 in favor of reducing eviction records from 20 years to two years. This change was sought out by advocates for tenant’s rights, with their reasoning being that such long-term records have made it difficult for people to find housing with lower incomes. Just last year, Wisconsin’s Department of Administration recorded 25,819 eviction filings, and 1,621 of those resulting in evictions being granted. The impact this could have on landlords may very well end up affecting their tenants too. Landlords may incur additional costs to obtain a prospective tenants eviction history, which will will eventually be passed down to each and every tenant, old and new.
On October 11th, 2023, our very own Vice President Jeff Shavlik and his Fiancé Cathy Matis attended the Make-A-Wish Gourmet Wishes event at the Resch Center. The event, which raised upwards of $420,000 dollars for the charity, featured activities like silent & live auctions, & voluntary contributions, with donor matches. In addition to this, all of the money raised stays local. Jeff and Cathy would like to thank Associated Bank for hosting, and to the numerous individuals & businesses that donated at the charity event. Events like these truly humble all in attendance, and truly remind us just how fortunate we are. In the month of November, Jeff and Cathy will be volunteering at the Christian Outreach Ecumenical Thanksgiving Dinner. They will be delivering hot meals to the residents in the area on Thanksgiving.
Over the past month, we have had a number of employees with work anniversaries to announce. Our Vice President, Jeff Shavlik, celebrates 30 years with us. Alongside Jeff, several of our collectors are celebrating their anniversaries with our collection team. Camey has been with us at FSGB for 27 years, and Samantha has been with us for 7 years! This truly goes to show the longevity of employment when you enjoy working for a company that treats you like family. We want to thank all of our employees for their hard work and for continuing to help us grow through the years
